Pamper Your Dog In The Best Way Possible: By Making Them DIY Treats

When you have a dog, it’s only natural that you’ll want to spoil it as much as possible. You might have already done things like buying brand-new toys, taken them to the dog park, and even gotten them groomed at a doggy spa. However, there is still one thing you didn’t do for your pup just yet: homemade treats! There are so many different dog-friendly recipes that we guarantee your dog will love. No matter the reason you want to spoil them, making tasty homemade treats is always a great idea. Not to mention, most of these recipes contain healthy ingredients to keep your pup nice and strong!

Pumpkin Cookies

For this recipe, you’ll need 1/2 cup canned pumpkin, 1/2 cup creamy natural peanut butter (make sure it doesn’t contain xylitol), 2 eggs, 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour, and 1 cup oats. For the frosting, you’ll need 1/2 cup natural peanut butter, 2 1/2 tsp whole wheat flour, and 1 tbsp water.
Preheat the oven to 350F and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Beat together the pumpkin, peanut butter, and eggs in an electric mixer until combined. Gradually add the whole wheat flour, then the oats. Transfer the dough to a well-floured countertop before gently kneading it into a large ball. Roll out the dough to 1/4″ thickness and use a cookie cutter to cut out individual cookies. Place the cookies on the baking sheet and bake for 20-24 minutes.
In a microwave, warm 1/2 of peanut butter until it can be easily stirred – for about 15 seconds. Add the water and stir well. Add flour and stir. While the icing is warm and the cookies have cooled, ice each cookie.

Frozen Banana Treat

On a simpler note, this tasty frozen treat is perfect for the summertime when your pup needs to cool down. It’s also a super simple recipe that contains two ingredients: bananas and peanut butter. You’ll need 4 bananas and 1/2 cup of peanut butter.
Peel and slice the bananas before freezing them. Once frozen, blend the bananas in a food processor until it’s all smooth. This might take a few times since they can thicken and stick to the sides. Add the peanut butter and mix well. Separate the mixture into 3-4 cups and freeze them.

Apple Carrot Treats

This recipe requires 1 1/2 cups gluten-free flour, 1/2 cup shredded carrots, 1/2 cup shredded red apple, and 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth.
Preheat the oven to 400F. Combine the flour, carrots, and chicken broth in a large mixing bowl. Sprinkle some flour on the countertop before rolling out the mixture with a rolling pin. Cut out cookies with a cookie cutter of your choosing. Bake 8-10 minutes until the cookies are lightly browned. Refrigerate any leftovers that might be left.

Peanut Butter Treats

Last but certainly not least, these treats have three ingredients and are so easy to make. You’ll need 2 cups of flour, 1/2 cup of creamy peanut butter, 2 eggs, and 1/4 cup of water.
Preheat the oven to 350F. Mix together the flour, peanut butter, and eggs in a large bowl until slightly combined. Add in a little water – one tbsp at a time – until the mixture is ready to be rolled as a dough. Roll it out and cut out cookies. Bake for about 15 minutes.
